The Therapy Reading List My Grad Program Didn't Make. So I Did.
Grad programs assign a lot of reading. Case conceptualizations, DSM criteria, treatment modalities, research methods. All necessary. All very much focused on the clinical mechanics of becoming a therapist.
What they assign a lot less of: books that challenge the systems those mechanics operate inside. Books about rest as resistance. Books about what it actually costs to be a helper in a world that doesn't slow down. Books that ask harder questions about who therapy has historically served and who it hasn't.
